i hate trying to combine 4 days worth of weekend into one journal entry. i always end up either babbling on and on about what happened each day, and then feeling like i just wrote way to much crap, or i just rush through everything and then feel like i crammed 4 fun filled days into a journal entry that ends up shorter than a completely pointless entry about goats. whatever.
THURSDAY:
sharon got back from the east coast today. she was on an allstar tour of all the universities she got into for grad school. looks like she’s gonna end up moving to new york to attend cornell for the next 6 years. all the south africans are leaving california… *sigh*. anyways, a bunch of us went to popscene tonight. didn’t really dance much or anything, instead spent most of the night outside smoking cigarettes in the sprinkling rain while discussing life w/ sharon.
FRIDAY:
4.5 hours of sleep later i had to go to work cause the other engineer flaked on coming in. spent most of the day feeling out of it and shleepy. after that, caryn came over and the day finally got better. i’ve been kicking it w/ caryn pretty much every day of every weekend for the last several weeks and honestly, i just can’t seem to get enough of her. she is just too fucking cool. but anyways, so we went to cha cha chas on haight to have a super late dinner and a bunch of sangria. cha cha chas was damn delicious as always, and after a couple pitchers of sangria, we left the restaurant a bit tipsy… and went to go have mojitos and more drinks at hobson’s down the street. i dont know what it is about hobson’s, cause the bar’s not super exciting, not super hip, not flashy, really just a plain old bar…. and yet there’s something about the place that i really like and i always end up having a good time there. several drinks, cherry djarums, and vanilla djarums later, we ended up buying even more vodka at a liquor store on the way home….
SATURDAY:
5 hours of sleep later it is time to go to santa cruz. my brain is running on empty from lack of sleep and from alcohol consumption. but i’m pretty dedicated to going to santa cruz regardless. lately i’ve really been wanting to do more stuff. stuff that’s not the usual same old drinking at a bar or drinking at someone’s house or drinking at a party. i have a major urge to get out and do more interesting things, try new shit and what not. doesnt have to be anything totally revolutionary and exciting, just something that i havent done 1.9 million times before. so today, after a *bomb* lunch at saturn cafe (yummmm, chick parm), we went to natural bridges beach to check out tide pools. it was a lot of fun climbing around on the rock formations, searching for “little lives” under the puddles of water. it’s pretty cool to have these little mini underwater worlds at your fingertips. here are a few photos: click!
after the tidepools we went to the boardwalk and road the giant dipper rollercoaster. somehow i remember this rollercoaster not being very fun…. but it actually turned out to be really cool. we then also went to go check out the sea lions at the pier. all in all it was a hella fun filled day. it was really good to get out and go do something. that night was josh mitchell’s bday, but by this point i was so insanely drained and tired that i really couldnt do anything other than go home and sleep.
SUNDAY:
sunday during the day i went to sunkissed (a day party at central park that michael liu throws). to be honest, it was kinda weird. not really that many people i knew were there. 90% of the people there were 17 and under it seemed like. i dunno, i just wasn’t really feeling it too much somehow. i did get to see pete nice who i haven’t seen in a jillion years which was cool and also it was good to see michael liu who i havent seen in a really long time either. after a bit, i cut out to go try and buy some shoes. i’ve needed new shoes for sooooo long now. it’s ridiculous. the ones i wear are totally falling apart. unfortunately, i wasnt successful.
later sunday night i went w/ caryn, tash, and my brother to see Assemblage 23 play. i’ve never been to an industrial show before and i really really ended up feeling out of place. i think i was one of only like 3 people in the whole place who was wearing a colored shirt. everyone there was in all black and hella gothed out. also, some fuckhead kept fucking w/ me by tapping me on the shoulder while i wasnt looking. how immature is that?? finally i went up to him and made him stop acting like a dumbass. but regardless, i ended up having a really good time. the music was really really good. hard hitting industrial music just sounds *so* good when it’s loud as fuck.
sheeez… i really didnt mean to babble on and on this much about the weekend… but really, it was a pretty damn good weekend.

Sounds like a blast to me. And kudos to you for not being a lazy ass and settling into doing the same things every weekend. Life is too short to go to the same bar over and over again.
so the boardwalk is open right now? (thinking of bringing someone down there next weekend 🙂 )
sounds like a great weekend 🙂
and you know.. its your journal.. and its not babbling, and if someone doesnt want to hear about it, they wont read it..
yeah, it just re-opened last weekend. have fun!

exactly! i just wish i could come up w/ more fun things to do more often!

yayay! perfect 🙂
Re: natural bridges
Ah, I love doing that. I used to go down to Santa Cruz almost daily back in the day. Sometimes alone and sometimes with friends. Tide pool exploration has to be one of the greatest things ever. So much to see and do. I’ve seen everything from whales to seals to sea cucumbers to crabs to funny little fishies.
Natural Bridges is great, especially for the trails around the beach that you can hike on. I remember walking through there and every so often it seemed like entering a whole new ecosystem as the flora and fauna would change drastically over the cours of a rather short hike. Plus if you go at the right times of the year you get to see the billions of monarchs that arrive there.
If you want to go to some really great tide pools, next time venture further up 1 to the lighthouse. There are some incredible tide pools there and it’s where I often see whales and seals. I have found out of all the places up 1 I have ventured to that place had the most life and things to explore. I know even further up north… around 35, I believe, there are some killer tide pools. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the exact location of the beach, but one in particular was incredible.
Man, I have to start hitting up those areas again. It’s been too long.
i totally wish we had seen more crazy sea life in there. unfortunately anemones (sp?), snails, and mussels were pretty much it for us.. other than these really weird alien funky things that we couldn’t identify.
i totally wanna see the monarchs too!! but that’s november. damn.

Make sure to pet the anenome. It’s fun.
oh, we totally did!

Errr… anemone. I’m apparently slightly dyslexic.
